Miss Collierville Pageant Set For January 5

Harrell Theater To Present Outstanding Production

COLLIERVILLE, TN – The Miss Collierville Scholarship Pageant, an official preliminary of the Miss America Pageant, will be held January 5, 2008 at the Harrell Theater to select the next young women to represent the Town of Collierville as its official ambassador. Twelve area young women will be competing for the prestigious title.

Presented by Collierville Parks, Recreation & Cultural Arts, along with Scholarship Major Sponsors Landers Ford and Pepsi, the pageant is an exciting show featuring large production numbers and exciting contestant competitions. Contestants compete in five phases of competition: interview, talent, swimsuit, eveningwear and on-stage question.

“The Miss Collierville Scholarship Organization has a long history of providing scholarship and community advocacy for Collierville,” said Betty Werne, Executive Director Emeritus, Miss Collierville Scholarship Organization.  “Each winner will receive educational scholarship, a host of prizes and the opportunity to compete at the 2008 Miss Tennessee Scholarship Pageant and Miss Tennessee Outstanding Teen Pageant.”

“The Miss Collierville Organization exists for the purpose of providing personal and professional opportunities for young women and promoting their voice in culture, politics and community,” said the current Miss Collierville Madeline Littrell. “The local winners become representatives of their generation, using their stature to address community service matters and other contemporary issues.” Littrell has spent her year of service as Miss Collierville promoting volunteerism and advocating character education. She has been active in numerous community projects throughout Collierville and Shelby County.  

The Miss America Organization is the leading provider of scholarships for young women in the world. Each year, more than $45 million in cash and tuition scholarship assistance is made available to the young women who compete in the system.

Other Scholarship Sponsors include: Schilling Farms, Boyle, State Farm Insurance, Patriot Bank, Bancorp South, John Green Realtors, Trustmark Bank and Main Street Collierville.
